Lincolnshire

Don’t know why I haven’t covered Lincolnshire before but hey its worth a visit for many reasons. Lincolnshire is famous for the Royal Air Force presence. Lincoln also developed the world’s first tank in 1915, used in The Somme in 1916. Visit bars frequented by brave airmen who placed coins in the roof beams for when they came back. Go walking in the Wolds. Visit centuries old castles. Stay at grand hotels,  cottages, traditional bed and breakfasts. The coast is quirky and full of retro joints.

We just stayed here a few months ago: https://www.washingboroughhall.com/ just about 10 minutes drive from Lincoln City. I  think we had one of the bridal suites here, so suitably posh! Delicious food and a secret gate to the church next door. We are back May 2024  again a very good experience. Here we are again March 2025. Superb again. Walking along the river to Lincoln City an easy flat 3 mile walk.

I love this low chair just right for me!

I found the camra winning bar called the Strugglers. So named after convicted people struggling as they were about to be hanged!

This is why it’s called Steep Hill!
Beautiful backdrop to the Lincoln City War Memorial
Lincoln cathedral imposing in the skyline
Well you know what a bull dozer is right? How about this calf dozer! The museum of Lincoln is well worth the effort.
