…..so, Poshmum instigated a mother and daughter visit to Frankfurt to celebrate in advance said daughter’s 40th birthday! This must make Poshmum pretty senior. …..flying direct from Newcastle Upon Tyne to Frankfurt courtesy of Lufthansa. Staying at Ruby Louise Hotel Frankfurt quite a cool place not far from the Hauptwache station easily reached on the S Bahn directly accessible at the airport. Hmmmm, shall we try their rooftop bar?

We seem to find the Apfelwein festival all over the city. There’s a major Pride weekend too, extremely colourful. The drag artist was super and did a glittering rendition of Sweet Caroline!
Street Food is a good go to when you are on the go in a city. Loved the river area. Intensely hot so the Apfelwein is a useful cooler! The sizzling sausages were so tempting.
The zoo is very pleasant and the animals clearly well cared for and as with most modern zoos they are heavily into conservation programmes. Costs about 12 euro admission so quite affordable.
Love the vibe here in Frankfurt. Not short of live music as well as a major cultural festival by the river.
Temperatures soar to over 30 degrees so good job plenty of places to enjoy the shade. Greenery all through the city with shaded walkways.
Expect to pay about 6 euros for a decent beer can recommend the heffeweizen. Apfelwein will float your boat if cider is your thing.
Don’t expect many public toilets around. No wonder the Galleria department store is charging 70 cents to use their loo.
Botanical gardens are a haven. Cycling not allowed which is pretty decent and avoids having to look out for them whilst sauntering along. Free admission too.
Frankfurt airport is vast and modern. The journey on the SBahn took less than 25 minutes from the centre making the city somewhat more accessible than Berlin whose Brandenburg airport takes over an hour to get to.
Alas homeward bound already. Poshmum and daughter had a whale of a time!!!
