About

This is me, on the Hudson River with the New York skyline in the background, excuse the hat, but this was a special couple’s wedding!

I have been lucky enough to have visited many exciting destinations for both pleasure and work over the years. My nickname, hence the travelblog name poshmumsjourneys, comes from my children and their friends, who think I am a little posh, but I think that’s debatable. Choosing your itinerary carefully not only ensures that you experience great sights and sounds, but you really can add your must haves according to your budget and taste with a little groundwork. I noticed a recent advert for a tailor made trip to Japan, costing £4,000 a person – we spent less than that for both of us, through researching options this magnificent country is more accessible than people might think. See my Osaka and Kyoto pages for details.

The Chinese New Year celebrations remind me of a wonderful visit to Singapore in February 2018, you can find out more about how we got there and around, what we did, and what we saw in the Singapore page. Ironically we cancelled our 2020 visit due to the coronavirus issue, yet then the UK had almost as many cases. Subsequently they fared much better than the UK. But guess what I am returning in October 2023 partly for round 2 of a family wedding celebration so watch my Singapore posts nearer the time.

I have covered several self-devised USA road trips including an exciting one in Texas, Louisiana & Arkansas in May 2019 – telling you how it was for us so you can see if it would work for you. We were planning to do a fly drive from Seattle in the Autumn 2020 but alas due to covid this was not to be.

As well as distant adventures I feature many British locations, we have a fabulously diverse nation from the tip of Cornwall and its rocky coves, exquisite lakes and national parks, heaps of historic buildings and monuments, to countryside and forests. More play is made of promoting local travel and produce, something I would like to see even more of. Why import so many beers, for example, when there is an ever increasing number of micro breweries producing unique and high-quality beverages without the carbon footprint. Hope you enjoy the blog.
